MiniDV tape is not an archive "structure", can directly present series of digital data. we may IEEE 1394 protocols. These protocols also allow the computer to the playback control and rewinds the tape, not the USB to do in the situation.
USB is a file transfer. Video is available as computer files on the memory card your camera or hard drive via USB. Trying not to convert a file that does not work as a transfer of control over the movement of the belt converter "signal". The converters are designed for situations in which you connect a FireWire hard drive with USB to a computer. This does not apply to miniDV tape.
I'mnot sure what you mean by signal CONVERTR, but you need a FireWire port. The computer has a FireWire card and you need a cable. Go to Best Buy.
